Hosted IP Telephony follows a model similar to traditional Centrex telephone systems, where a provider owns and manages all of the necessary network and voice processing equipment and hosts it in their Point of Presence (PoP). The voice service is delivered to the business over a broadband network from the provider's point of presence (POP). Customer Premises Equipment is limited to IP handsets and a router connecting it to a provider. CAPEX investment is significantly reduced as there is no need to deploy multiple PABXs for organisations with multiple offices and sites.
